We are looking for a highly experienced Head of Technology to join our team and help us take our digital platform to the next level. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical and product background, experience leading a technology team in a startup environment, and experience with mobile app development, growth strategies, and high-traffic websites. Knowledge of open-source technologies and experience with marketplaces is also a major plus point. This person will report to the CEO and be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s technical strategy, overseeing the engineering team, and driving innovation in product development.

This is not an IT role, this is a Technology role. You should have experience working with software engineer developers and product managers. Experience in any of the following: online Marketplaces, E-Commerce, and News outlets is a must.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Develop and implement the company’s technical strategy in alignment with the company’s overall goals and objectives.
Oversee the technology team, including hiring, training, and mentoring software developers to ensure they have the necessary skills to execute the technical strategy.
Manage relationships with software development partners and ensure the quality of work meets the highest standards.
Develop and monitor KPIs for the technology team and ownership of the technology roadmap.
Collaborate with other members of the executive team to align the technical strategy with the company’s overall business strategy.
Drive innovation in product development by staying up to date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry.
Manage the company’s technical infrastructure, including servers, databases, and networks, to ensure they are secure and reliable.
Ensure that the company’s products and services are of high quality and that they meet the needs of our users.
Monitor and analyze key performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of the company’s technical strategy and make adjustments as necessary.
Develop and implement growth strategies to increase the company’s user base and revenue.

Requirements

Essential

Background as a solution architect or a head of engineering or a similar role.
Experience managing a remote development team across different geographies and timezone.
Market place experience
Previous knowledge and experience in scaling technology.
Knowledge of CMS systems and an ability to review and re-architect the company’s technology stack.
Cloud computing experience (AWS or Azure)
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
At least 6 years of experience in a technical leadership role, with a strong background in software engineering and product development.
Proven experience leading a technology team in a startup environment.
Experience with mobile app development, growth strategies, and high-traffic websites.
Knowledge of open-source technologies and experience with marketplaces is a major plus point.
Experience with agile development methodologies, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other members of the executive team.
A deep understanding of the latest trends and technologies in software engineering, and a commitment to staying up to date with new developments in the industry.

Desirable

Background as a solution architect is advantageous.
Experience with marketplace platforms

Experience with online media is a plus
Agile/Scrum certification
Knowledge/experience in the GCC market
Consulting or tech startup background
Advanced software development capabilities with extensive experience as a software developer using WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla.
